The Murder of Randy Baker
He turned his life around from a drug addict to an addiction counselor, but he ended up dead at the hands of his family.

On August 16, 2017, in the historic town of Greeley, Colorado, Kelly Lynn Baker found her husband, Randy Baker, on the floor, just a few feet into their house. It seemed like he just came home with a bag of fast food. She dialed 911 for help, thinking that her husband’s heart ailment caused him to slip and fall. When the police arrived, they confirmed that her husband had passed away.
Initially, it was deduced that 59-year-old Randy’s death was an unfortunate accident, but it did not take long for investigators to realize something more sinister was at play.

Randy Baker was a heavy drug user in his younger days and was even jailed once, but he turned over a new leaf once he was released. He got clean and found a job as an addiction counselor to help others. But, the prolonged use of drugs did Randy’s weaken his heart. Just months before his death, he had open-heart surgery. He struggled to stay awake from time to time and even, fell asleep behind the wheel. So, it was easy to see how one could deduce that Randy was having heart troubles, slipped, and knocked his head in the process.
But, there was one thing that did not really align with that theory.
Randy’s valuables, including his wallet, car keys, and Harley Davidson motorcycle, were missing. When an autopsy was done on Randy, the forensics found two bullet holes. One .22 behind his ear and another .45 in his shoulder.
During the investigation, police received a tip about an abandoned car without a license plate. It was a Pontiac similar to Randy’s, but it was wiped clean. After many interviews, that car eventually led to Randy’s sister, 65-year-old Carol. From there, investigators found out the troubled sibling relationship between Carol and Randy. No brotherly or sisterly love there. In fact, Carol hated her brother.
What’s more surprising was, that hatred for Randy was also shared by Kelly Baker.
